It always helps when you go into things prepared — that’s why we recommend that you read the Learning Tips before starting lessons in a new unit.

Learning Tips give you an idea of the “feel” of the language, such as whether the language is “gendered” and what the general word order rules are (e.g. in Japanese and Korean, the verb comes at the end). It also sets out an overview of the key knowledge points for the unit, such as verb conjugations and sentence structures. This way, you can take the time you need to absorb everything, and not feel like you’re being tested when you were expecting a lesson!
